Annual Guild Ceilidh

Saturday 25 February saw the annual Guild ceilidh in Kirkpatrick Durham village hall, with the band Spectrum on the stand for the second year running, playing some wild Celtic tunes in fine form and rhythm.  We were entertained by the youngsters of our church and village.  Alice, Kirsty and Keira were lightfooted and nimble in their execution of some mesmerising highland dancing, and Caitlin, Maisie and Faith beguiled us with some fine poetry recitations.  Keiran, a violinist from Spectrum, gave us a stentorian rendition of Holy Wullie’s Prayer.  Mary Burney called the dances with her usual firm control, and the food was plentiful and appealing.  All in all a good evening was had by all.
