Ready
Steady Christmas 2011
The
first week of Advent saw Kirkpatrick Durham church rocking to the sound of
(very) loud Christian beat music and the laughter of children on the Friday and
Saturday afternoon. SUPA
club leaders held parties on these two days, for the older age group (9-11
year-olds) on the Friday and for the younger group (7 -9 year-olds) on the
Saturday – we called it Ready Steady Christmas, as we prepared for the
festivities ahead and pondered the real meaning of Christmas.
We
learned a new Christmas carol, watched a Christmas movie, played games, ate cake, lots
of it and learned some Christmas crafts, such as how to make a gift box or a
star to decorate your Christmas tree, and how to make Nativity figures from
household items such as wooden clothes pegs.
It was such fun we neither noticed the cold outside nor wanted to go home
at the end!
