Minutes

Minutes of the Kirk Session Meeting held on 12th July 2011 were read, approved and signed.  Adoption of the Minutes proposed by Mrs Clark and seconded by Mrs Bishop.

Matters Arising

Communion Invitation – a sample of an invitation card designed by John McCormick was discussed.  It was agreed to adopt this template but the bottom line will be removed and the words ‘All who love the Lord are welcome’ will be substituted instead.  Rev. Russell will take this to the Print Shop in Castle Douglas to have copies printed, on white card, in time for distribution prior to the Communion Service on October 30th.

Correspondence

Office Bearers’ Form – to be returned to the Presbytery Clerk by 30th September 2011.

Citation to attend Presbytery – St. George’s Church, Dumfries, Wednesday, 30th November 2011 at 7.00pm.

People’s Bible Project – volunteers required in Dumfries on 1st and 2nd October (Mr and Mrs Bishop are attending on the Sunday).

Life and Work Magazine – free copies available for newly appointed Elders.

Impact World Tour – Mentors’ meeting, Kirkcudbright, 21st September 2011.

National Stewardship Campaign – leaflets brought back from the recent meeting held in Dumfries were distributed to members of the Kirk Session who will discuss the content at the next meeting with a view to, perhaps, organising a ‘gathering’ in the new year.  Remaining leaflets will be distributed with the next Church Magazine and a copy of the Gift Aid form and standing order letter will also be added.

Safeguarding Book – given to Mrs. Wishart.

As Christmas Day and New Year’s Day are both Sundays this year, Crossmichael and Parton Kirk Session suggested that a joint service be held in Parton on Christmas morning (this is where the Minister should be if we follow the rota) and Corsock on New Year’s Day.  This was agreed and both services will be held at 10.30am.

AOCB

Christmas Card – it was agreed that 500 cards be ordered through the Print Shop in Castle Douglas.

Outreach – no Springholm services have been organised as Rev. Russell is away in October.  It was decided that no more will be held this year but the situation will be reviewed at a later date.  A note could be placed in the magazine to say that if anyone requires a lift to attend Church, that this can be arranged.
