Sunday School

Kirkpatrick Durham Sunday School

We are a small but lively Sunday School. We meet at Kirkpatrick Durham Church Hall within Kirkpatrick Durham Church every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month. We cater for all ages from tots to teenagers.

The lessons are based on the topic of the Minister's weekly service using the resource www. rootsontheweb.com. In addition to the traditional annual events such as our Easter egg hunt, Harvest Festival celebrations etc, we have many other exciting activities e.g.;

Many craft activities including papier-mâché whales when studying Jonah and making animals with modelling clay for Noah's ark.

The children iced cakes to eat in their “banquet” for the story of the King's son's wedding and there were even some left over for the congregation.

They planted seeds and nurtured them at home to be brought back to be shown at a later date when considering God's gift of life.

The children generally rejoin the service towards the end to let the congregation see what they have been doing. We will shortly be rehearsing for our Nativity play which we usually act out on the last Sunday before Christmas – Do come along, everyone is guaranteed a part!

Here are some more of the projects that the children have been working on. They made a Harvest frieze in celebration of the world that God created using pictures from magazines and their own illustrations. They produced a highly entertaining version of The Nativity from the perspective of the animals set to popular nursery rhyme tunes. They enjoyed hearing about Noah's Ark and made a model of it with the characters and animals fashioned from playdoh.
